| The History
of Delta Sigma Theta Twenty-two
collegiate women founded Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on the campus of
Howard University January 13, 1913. The vision of theses model students
was to assist and provide service for people and to promote academic
excellence. Participation in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington
D.C., March 1913, marks the initial public act of our illustrious
founders. Currently, Delta Sigma Theta has over 900 chapters in the United
States, Tokyo, Japan, Okinawa, Japan, Germany, Bermuda, the Bahamas,
Seoul, Korea, St. Thomas and St. Croix of the U.S. Virgin Islands and a
membership of more than 200,000 African-American women.
